Continuing with the kitchen theme of the day... My son loves to play in the kitchen. He gets in the cabinets, pulls things out, and pretends to mix up dinner. It's just a fact that kids love to "help" in the kitchen. Of course there are hazards in the kitchen to children. It's difficult for them to understand that some mixtures of ingredients just aren't edible until cooked. Fortunately, a product has been created to allow child safe food preparation: Yummy Dough. You may already know about PlaSmart Toys from their other popular toys on the market:
Yummy Dough is one of PlaSmart's newest additions.
Recently I was sent a package of Yummy Dough and it's soooo cool! What I love about this product is it's something that my son can create in the kitchen, but I don't have to worry about him eating it before it's cooked. It's safe to eat raw!
You simply add water to the powder and your child can mix away in a bowl to form a moldable dough. Be sure and add the exact amount of water that the directions advise to! I'm not good at following directions and thought the mixture could use just a "little bit" more water... WRONG! The second batch of Yummy Dough came out perfectly when I followed the directions! :)
My son was more interested in eating the dough than actually molding it, but he is only 2. Good to know that it's safe to eat before it's baked! I'm sure that older children will especially enjoy making shapes and various clay-like creations out of the dough. Then just bake away!
